We are releasing the preview PDF to the public so we can receive feedback from customers. We want to release the best book we can, so we're releasing the PDF a month ahead of production. We will accept feedback on the book until June 14th. Then, we'll make any edits necessary and re-upload the PDF to the website IN FULL COLOR. Those who purchased the PDF will be able to re-download it on July 1st.

Can we expect to see another payment method for this besides PayPal or the pdf being sold at another site which allows for another method? Going to buy the book and got my credit card handy, but not going to sign up for PayPal to get it unfortunately.

Will pre-orders of the Hardcover get a pdf as well? (And if so, would there be a way to "credit" hardcover buyers $5 if they go ahead and but the pdf now? What can I say, I'm impatient.)

Is the forgot your password section of your John Wick Presents site working? It's been a few hours and I've yet to see a sign of any email (and, yes, I've done all the standard "check spam filter" things).

Perhaps a contact email address for problems with the shop added to the site might help as well.

Meanwhile I'll be over here salivating madly... <grin>

Have had a general read through, cover to cover, but need to read it again more thoroughly before I start giving any feedback... where's the best place to post feedback/opinions/suggestions/hateful comments etc?

Have had a thorough look through B&H to see where i think things might be tweaked, or rewritten to make things clearer or perhaps improve the system a little. I've also noticed a few mistakes, using the term raises instead of wagers in one part of the book for example :-).
Overall I really like the changes made, you've really streamlined the system and it should be much easier to run. I've divided things up into chapters and I haven't covered any of the errors or typos I found, I can deal with those in another post at some point.

Chapter 1
Do Daimyo give characters an aspect or a tag. Certain Daimyo give characters aspects and others give them tags. Shouldn't these all be of the same, I would think tags would make more sense as these are things that can be used against the pcs and aren't there to give them more dice.

Should characters each get a personal aspect in addition to two clan aspects. Maybe give characters the choice between 1 clan 1 personal or two clan aspects. One of the great things about the aspects system is the ability to really individualise a character, if every aspect a starting character has comes from the clan mould won't this make the characters all feel a bit similar. Having one of the characters beginning aspects as a free choice shouldn't take away too much from the rigid clan production line.

is it worth repeating that characters gain a bonus dice from their family name and their personal name on page 13, in addition to the bonus they get from their clan name.

Inconsistent use of Giri/Duty in the Giri section. The courtier uses the term duty in their ability write-up every other Giri uses the term Giri when talking about Giri/Duty ranks.

Should each Giri have an example of when they provide the three bonus dice, currently only the Hatamoto gives a specific example. Although most players/gms could figure out when a character is performing an action appropriate to their Giri, it is still probably a good idea to list an example at the start of each Giri description.

Contradiction in character creation in how many aspects a beginning character gets. Page 9 says you pick 3 aspects for your clan + none of us is as great as all of us and the characters then picks two of these aspects. Page 20 says every character gets NOUIAGAAOU for free plus 2 additional aspects from the clan list. Perhaps try to be clearer how many aspects the characters have as a beginning character 3 or 2. Page 24 goes back to saying characters have two aspects chosen from the clan list and they don't get NOUIAGAAOU for free.

Chapter 2
Do characters always get to invoke an aspect as long as it's appropriate or do they have to spend points. Seems reasonably clear from reading the rules they can always do it and that honour points are used for an additional four dice on top on anything you get from an aspect, is this correct, and is it worth perhaps pointing this out somewhere in the book for those people used to houses of the blooded where they have to spend style.

Getting dice page 28
I think it's probably worth expanding this table of everything that gives you dice as some things can be easily missed and having a complete or near complete list is useful for reference. The current list has:
Virtues
2 dice from family name
1 dice from personal name
3 dice from an aspect

should you also list
1 dice from your clan name (mentioned on page 13)
4 dice from spending a point of honour
3 dice for performing an action appropriate to your Giri
additional dice depending on having high quality equipment
2 additional dice for uses a tag
Additional dice equal to your glory rating if you have an appropriate reputation.

Chapter 3
Pretty good not too much to say on this based upon first read, much simpler than in houses. Have a suggestion about firearms but will mention that another time.

Chapter 4
Again no problems from my initial look over

Chapter 5
Like the far more streamlined seasons system. One problem I can see is the pcs really don't get to contribute to what happens in the season.
How do you think it would effect things if you said each Giri gave a daimyo an additional season action that he could use to perform season actions appropriate to that Giri, for example the daimyo could use a spy masters season action to commit an espionage action, so he has his season action left to do with as he sees fit.
You could say that if a player character uses a season action to benefit the clan rather than the personal improvement action the clans gains a point of honour, so as to discourage just using that action to improve the character.

Anyway these are my initial impressions after a first reading of the rules. Overall I think it should play much more smoothly than houses. Keep up the good work and can't wait to read slumming when it comes out.

New Daimyo type
have already sent this to your Gmail account but thought i'd share this hear for others to take a look at.

Controlled Daimyo
Your Daimyo is weak, he cannot be trusted to do what is best for the clan and so you must be the power behind the throne. It is the only honourable thing to do, after all if you don't take control of your clan, others who do not have your clans best interest at heart will do so.

Advantage: Each season every character (or NPC) attempting to control the Daimyo's actions makes a contested cunning roll, adding any dice from appropriate aspects as well as your Giri rank. Make Wagers as normal - for every roll that beats the 10 TN, see who rolled highest. The highest roll gets to decide the Daimyo's first season action for that round, his next season action goes to the next highest roll, this continues until you run out of season actions or successful characters and their wagers. Wagers work as normal allowing you to control an additional season action.
These roll do not allow your Daimyo to have more season actions then he would normally have, it only allows you to control his regular season actions.
Any character with the Daimyo's favour advantage may add two dice to his cunning roll to control the Daimyo's season actions each season, as well as the total number of season actions the Daimyo gets, but he does not necessarily get to decide what he does with the season action, as he normally would with the advantage, control of the Daimyo's season actions is still resolved as above, so if enough people are attempting to control your Daimyo you might potentially never get to use your additional season action from the advantage, as other influences control your Daimyo..... Time to start removing all those other influences, but you'd best act quickly before they start to remove their competition.

The Advantage of this Daimyo is also its disadvantage - your Daimyo isn't in control of his actions and his opponents know it.....
